LIGHT OF LIFE RADIO PROGRAM BROADCASTING IN THE VALLEY

It is our honor and privilege to have the first and the longest running Christian radio broadcast in the HMong language in the United States of America.  Rev. Young Tao (Pastor Kou’s Uncle) began broadcasting in 1980 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  For over 25 years, God’s Word has been proclaimed continuously every week of the year.  Rev. Tao was called to his eternal home on March 10, 2001.  We thank God for his vision and the blessing of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to the HMong community through the airwaves.

Today, this radio program continues the long tradition under the leadership of Rev. and Mrs. Kou Seying.  Light of life airs in Minnesota on two different radio stations (KNOF FM 95.3 & HMong Minnesota Radio).  Since December 2005, we have expanded this weekly program to the Central Valley of California.  We are broadcasting on KQEQ 1210 AM out of Fresno.  Sunday mornings schedule is from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., Monday evenings from 9:30 p.m., and Thursdays 1:00 a.m. for the late night and overseas listeners.  You can also listen live at these same times via the internet: www.thehmongradio.com and any time at www.hmonglcms.org.  Current and past week’s programs are hosted at the HMong LC-MS website.

CHINA PROJECTS:

$10,500.00 was wired to China on December 22, 2005.  Many thanks to Vue Lee for chairing this fund drive.  It is important to note that some of the contributors were HMong non-Christians.  This is a wonderful news because it will open the door for us to share the good news of Jesus Christ with them as well.  $8900.00 was designated for the water projects of two areas that will bring clean water to six villages.  The rest of the funds go toward a seminary training program.  We are very blessed to be able to raise these funds for these first initial projects.  We look forward to what God may call us to do in the future in this particular part of the world.  May God be glorified!

Pastor Kou, Maykou, and two other couples are planning to visit China in the Spring at the invitation of our Concordia Welfare and Education Society.  The purpose will be to see the completion of the water projects and to explore other ministry possibilities.  Please pray that this trip will be possible so that the works in China may be evaluated in a personal way.  For further information about our China HMong Projects, please contact Pastor Kou Seying (Kxf. Nyaj Kub Thoj), HMong Outreach Ministries: 2916 N. McKee Rd.; Merced, CA  95340 or at pastorkou@stpaulmerced.com or 209-722-8725 for further information.

LAUNCHING LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM

The first module for our leadership training program begins January 28th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Merced.  This is a two-year program.  Each module meets once a month for three months (12 hours of face to face time).  Many leaders are looking forward to begin this program.

A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

There were at least 126 people at our California-Neveda-Hawaii District (C-N-H) HMong ministries Christmas celebration on Christmas Day service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Merced.  Because it coincided with the HMong New Year in Fresno, we had visitors from across the country joining our worship service.  The foods were delicious—thanks to Pine Cone Mongolia Grill Restaurant for providing the foods at a very reasonable price.  Many thanks to May Lo for coordinating the food service.  Also, thank you to all those folks that helped set up, take down, clean up etc.

OTHER OUTREACH NEWS:

We are continuing our search for an airplane to help HMong Outreach Ministries covers a vast geographical area.  IF ANYONE CAN PROVIDE A SINGLE-ENGINE AIRPLANE, PLEASE LET PASTOR KOU KNOW.  He holds a commercial pilot license with an instrument rating.  An airplane would help to save an immense amount of times and it would also cut the costs of associating with travels.  If you can help, please let him know: pastorkou@stpaulmerced.com or 209-722-8725.
