Key Leadership Functions

1.         Clarify and maintain vision:
            a.         What is God’s will for this organization?
            b.         How do we proceed?  What do we do from here?

 

2.         Affirm the values of the organization:
            a.         What gives meaning to the organization?

b.         Members have share view of what is right and wrong

 

3.         Symbolize the standards and expectations of the organization:
            a.         The members must be transparent of the organization

            b.         The members must personify the organization’s vision and commitments.

 

4.         Maintaining of the organization:
            a.         See to that the organization is provided for

            b.         Who is doing what in the organization?

 

5.         Service to the organization:
            a.         Leadership serves

            b.         Work toward the fulfilment of the vision

 

6.         Organizational renewal:
            a.         Be aware of the changes around you

            b.         The strategies need to be reviewed to meet the changes

 

7.         Qualities of Christian leaders:
            a.         H.A. Lorentz: “His (her) never-failing kindness and generosity and sense of
                        justice, coupled with a sure and intuitive understanding of people and human
                        affairs, made him or her a leader in any sphere

            b.         Not to dominate (or to be served) but to serve (Mt 20:28)
